Setup

List and Data

Add a list of schools you're interested in and use the next columns to compare and contrast using the important data above. From acceptance rates to financial aid information to class size use this columns to compare and contrast schools before beginning the process.

Factors

What do you want out of college? Brainstorm a list of twelve important factors that will decide your college decision. These are the categories that will determine your list so make sure these twelve factors capture your unique criteria for picking a school.

Weights

Once you have picked your factors it's time to weight them. Which factors mean the most to you? Which ones would make-or-break your college experience? Once you've made that list it's time to decide what each factor's weight should be. On our 10-50 scale you decide which factors will play the biggest part in crafting your overall score.

Ratings

Now that you have setup your list, added your factors, and weighted them it's time to rate them. As you go through your list of factors think about how that school fairs in respect to that individual factor and give them a rating between 1-10. This is the most important part of the process so make sure to reflect on the school and write a few sentences in our notes column to visualize your thoughts on the school and to save specific information for reviewing your list in the future. Go through each school and each factor giving them a score from 1-10 and once you're finished we will calculate your GoCollegeNavigator score for each college.

Completing Your List

What does your GCN score mean?

Once you have completed all of your ratings our algorithm has successfully calculated your GCN score, but what does this mean? This is an overall rating that encompasses each school based on how they meet your factors.

How to use it

After you have your GCN scores for every college you can make a thoroughly ranked college list based on finding the best fit for you.
